district as a middle school social worker. In this role she gained significant knowledge of the special education process specifically working with students requiring IEPs and 504s due to mental health and behavioral issues, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, school refusal, and ADHD. She now works to help parents navigate through that process and supports students as well. Carolynn Ballew has a post graduate certification in ADHD counseling and has had extensive success helping students, their parents and adults learning to manage ADHD. She also counsels adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and family and marriage issues. Carolynn excels at making clients feel safe and is quick to develop strong rapport with her clients. She sees the counseling process as goal oriented and helps clients to identify their goals while in therapy.  She utilizes a variety of techniques to help teach and develop strategies for change such as family systems, solutions oriented counseling, DBT, ACT, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches. Carolynn starts each counseling session where the client is at on that given day and builds from there. She encourages each client's active engagement in the process and empowers them to take on that role. Carolynn is gifted at creating an empathetic, non-judgmental and resilient atmosphere where client’s almost immediately feel a sense of hope for the change they are seeking. 

 

Carolynn Ballew is the mother of four children and has lived in the DuPage County area for over twenty years. She has an established reputation both personally and professionally throughout the community. Carolynn is active in her faith community, enjoys biking, scrap booking and traveling.
